PITTSBURGH…A milk dynasty? Those in America’s
“dairyland” surely think so.
For the third time in four years, Turner Dairy Farms’ 2%
milk scored a perfect
“100” and was awarded First Place at the World Dairy
Expo’s Championship
Dairy Products Competition.
The competition, sponsored by the Wisconsin Dairy
Products Association, is held in conjunction with the
World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin. The
competition holds the distinction of being the only
comprehensive dairy
judging contest in the nation. Entries were received
from dairies across the US.
“First Place at the World Dairy Expo goes a long way in
proving that the highest quality and best tasting
products continue to come from local sources,” explains
Chuck Turner Jr., third generation president of his
family’s dairy processing business.
Turner Dairy Farms’ trademarked “Higher Standard” of
quality starts with a
commitment to excellence by its network of local family
dairy farms adds
Turner. “We have long believed in the importance of
utilizing local and
sustainable agriculture as a means for producing the
highest quality milk and
dairy products,” he continues.
Turner’s has an exclusive partnership with 50 local
dairy farms to supply them
with raw milk – farms that consistently meet and exceed
Turner’s stringent
quality standards. Several of these local families have
been supplying
Turner’s with milk since the 1940s and 50s.
Remaining mindful of current issues enables Turner’s to
continually enhance
their “Higher Standard.” All of Turner’s family farms
have signed certificates
that state they do not employ artificial growth hormones
on their cows.
“While the Food and Drug Administration has approved the
use, we know
that ultimately our consumers want a choice. As part of
our extremely stringent quality standards, we have
certified our line of fresh pasteurized milk products as
being rBST free, simply stated, free of artificial
growth hormones," Turner states.
Furthering its stronghold on the competition Turner’s
took Second Place in the Chocolate Milk category,
narrowly being edged by a quarter of one point.
Turner’s has previously won the award in 2004.
Turner’s milk is available in convenience, grocery, and
natural food stores
throughout the Pittsburgh area. Founded in 1930, Turner
Dairy Farms is a
family business committed to bringing the highest
quality milk and dairy
products from local farms to local families.
