Turner Dairy
Farms Wins Herd of National Awards
Local family
dairy takes home 7 Gold Medals at LA
International Dairy Competition and 2 awards
at 2011 World Dairy Expo
Pittsburgh, PA
(September 8,
2011) – The folks at Turner Dairy Farms
ended the month of August in winning
fashion.
The local family dairy took home
seven Gold Medals at the Los Angeles
International Dairy Competition and a Second and Third Place
Award at the World Dairy Expo in
Madison,
Wisconsin.
Turner’s Fat
Free Skim Milk, 1% Milk, 2% Milk, Whole
Milk, 1% Lowfat Chocolate Milk, Whole
Chocolate Milk, and Charlie’s Old Time Buttermilk took home Gold Medals at the LA
competition, held at the annual Los Angeles
County Fair, their inaugural entry into the
annual event.
“To take home
an award for every product we entered speaks
volumes to the commitment our local farmers
and employees have to produce the highest
quality milk and dairy products,” said Chuck
Turner, Jr, third generation President of
his family’s dairy company.
“The fact that all seven awards were
gold medals is an honor for all members of
the Turner Dairy Farms family,” he
continued.
The LA
competition awards Gold Medals for those
products scoring a 98% or higher score with
products receiving the bulk of their scores
from flavor (40%).
In 2010, the competition had entries
from 50 dairy companies across the United States.
Continuing
their string of national recognition,
Turner’s took home Second Place for their Charlie’s Old Time Buttermilk and Third Place for
their Whole Chocolate Milk at the World
Dairy Expo’s “Championship Dairy Products
Contest,” the only local dairy to win an
award this year.
This year’s World Dairy Expo, where
the winners will be recognized, will take
place from October 4 – 8 in
Madison,
Wisconsin.
Turner’s has
had great success at the World Dairy Expo,
the largest comprehensive dairy judging
competition in the nation, having made the
walk to the podium in seven of the last
eight years.
“Being
recognized at these highly respected
national dairy judging competitions helps to
give us confidence that we’re providing the
best tasting, highest quality milk to our
loyal customers and their families
everyday,” says Turner.
“We’re proud to bring Turner’s milk
from local Western
Pennsylvania farms to local
Western
Pennsylvania
families,” he added.
