Started in 1930 by Charles G. Turner, Turner Dairy Farms, Inc. continues to set a higher standard for quality dairy products over 75 years later.  Now in its third generation of ownership Turner’s is still located on the same farmland Charles rented in 1930.  We continue to practice three principles instituted by Charles that allow our products and service to be of the highest quality: Perfect Products, Perfect Service, Treat People Right!

Charles G. built Turner’s one home delivery milk route at a time and soon had routes covering northeastern Allegheny County and western Westmoreland County. Charles’ eldest son, Jim, joined his father in the 1950s.  A graduate of 

Penn State (Dairy Science) he began making important advancements, including incorporating the company in 1953. After graduating from Penn State in 1965, Charles’ second son Chuck joined the company with brother Walt soon to follow (Michigan State, ‘67).  Both continue to work for the company today.

As part of changing times and an evolution in our consumer base Turner’s home delivery service ended around 2000.  Today nearly 70 driver-salesman serve customers on almost 60 routes a day.  Currently, Turner’s serves customers all over Western Pennsylvania from Erie to State College as well as customers in Eastern Ohio and Northern West Virginia. Turner’s provides dairy products for many of the hospitals, nursing homes, hotels, restaurants, institutional food service providers, and schools in our service area.  Over 2,000 food service, grocery, convenience store and independent food store customers know they can depend on Turner’s every day for the best products and the best service.       

Turner’s maintains an exclusive arrangement with roughly 55 local family dairy farms to supply us with the highest quality raw milk available.  Our higher standard truly starts with them.  Turner’s full range of products includes our award winning Milk, our wide variety of famous Iced Teas, Juices, Juice Drinks, Water, and various Cultured Dairy Products.  We also carry a variety of  cheeses, butter and margarine, and eggs, as well as frozen yogurt and ice milk mixes.

As a local company that has a commitment to setting a higher standard we are recognized by the PA Department of Agriculture as producing PA Preferred Products.  We consistently receive national accolades from the All Star Dairy Association and national awards at the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin.  Turner’s has also been named one of the 50 Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania in 2005 and 2006.
