Artificial Growth Hormones
Turner’s 50 local family farms have pledged not
to use artificial growth hormones on their
cows. We have signed legal documents from each and
every one of our farmers stating this pledge.
Facilitated by consumer demand we were one of the
first dairies in the region to obtain signed
documents from our farmers. Our farmers are proud
to say they have happy, healthy cows.
“Antibiotic Free”
Yes, Turner’s milk is antibiotic free. Actually
under federal regulations all processed milk on the
market must be free of antibiotics; however, unlike
most dairies we test every single load of milk we
receive for antibiotics to ensure all of our milk is
free of antibiotics.
On
our farms antibiotics are administered to sick
cows only under the strict supervision of a
veterinarian. A sick cow is subsequently removed
from the milking cycle until their treatment has
expired. Upon cessation of treatment the cows’ milk
is tested for antibiotic residue and put back on the
milking cycle only after treatment has ended and the
cow’s milk is free of antibiotics. Routine, or
prophylactic, antibiotics are not utilized.
